Woods Makes First Cut In A Major In Three Years While Garcia Crashes Out In Augusta Defence.

Augusta, GA ….

Former three-time Masters winner Tiger Woods made the cut at The Masters – but defending champion Sergio Garcia is heading home.

The four-time champion entered the first Major of the season with so much promise but at one stage looked set to miss out on playing over the weekend.

Woods fell to four over par after a rough front nine that included a bogey and double-bogey and left him sitting one shot inside the cutline, which is projected to be five over par.

The former world No.1 was considered a favourite to collect a fifth Green Jacket after showing impressive form this year in his comeback from injury but had nothing going his way early in his second round.

After a bogey at the opening hole, Woods made a double-bogey at the par-four fifth hole where he took a penalty drop from an unplayable lie after sending his second shot into the bushes to the left of the green.

Patrick Reed posted a best of the day, a round of 66, to lead the field by two shots at 9-under.
