Scott Jets Home Excited At Birth Of Second Child But Disappointed After Four Majors.

Quail Hollow, NC ..

Adam Scott jets back into Australia Tuesday morning in time for the birth of his second child later this week.

It was a disappointed World No.17 and ending his 17-year in the professional ranks with a closing round of 71 for a shock eight-over par PGA Championship tally at Quail Hollow.

Adam Scott looks back on his season in the Majors with disappointment.

Scott ended what was also his 17th PGA Championship and the last Major of 2017 just outside the top-60 and with his poorest finish in the 13 times he has contested all four rounds.

His final day was a mix of five birdies, three bogeys and for a second day running Scott doubled the last.

“The course probably played a little easier I would today because the course has taken a lot of rain and the greens are pretty receptive at 8.35 in the morning,” he said smiling.

“But standing here now I am kind of glad it’s over when you’re in my position this week because you’re working hard for not a lot of results.

“To shoot 71 is hard work out there today and you walk away at the bottom of the pack.

“It is never a waste of energy but it’s a lot of work for not a lot of give-back.”

Scott was asked in looking back on the season how would he assess his efforts in the Majors having shared ninth at the Masters, missing the cut at Erin Hills and sharing 22nd at The Open.

“I have just seemed to play this week how I have played all year in the Majors and that is not good, really as I seemed to play three really good rounds most weeks and one average round,” he said.

“So it has been all very average.

“It’s disappointing because I was hoping this week I’d find something but I really struggled in the second round and shot myself out of it.”

Indeed, Scott shot a first round 75 at Augusta and bounced back with scores of a pair of 69s and a final round 73.  At the U.S. Open he began with a 72 and put himself out of the Major with a day two 75.

In teeing-up at Royal Birkdale, Scott shot scores of 69, 74, 70 and 67.”

Though his immediate focus was returning home to Queensland to be with his wife, Marie and daughter, Bo.

“Yes, looking forward to getting home and hopefully everything’s in order otherwise it will be when I get back,” he said.

“It is going to be great having a second child in the family.

“But then it’s very hard to switch off the head five minutes after the round but I’m really looking forward to seeing my family as I’ve been away six weeks.”
