Tiger Woods Says He’s Still No Closer To Teeing Up In 2016

Fourteen-time Major winning Tiger Woods says he’s no closer to knowing if he will tee-up in 2016.

“I don’t know. I want to play,” Woods said during the final round coverage of the PGA Tour’s Quicken Loans Championship.

“Put it this way: I want to play, I don’t know if I will. But I want to, and I’m trying. Each and every day I’m doing my workouts, sometimes two or three times a day. I’m working my tail off.”

Woods hasn’t played competitively since finishing T10th in last August’s Wyndham Championship but yet he’s still entered next month’s 145th Open Championship and the PGA Championship.

Woods had spoken with the media at Congressional on Wednesday and gave an update on his status, adding that he still needs to be able to play 36 holes in a day and play 4-5 days in a row before he’ll consider a return to competition. It’s a prognosis that Woods reiterated Sunday in the booth.

“I still need to get into golf shape,” he said. “That’s just hitting ball after ball after ball after ball.”
