It maybe 2,500 odd kilometres but for four lucky golfers teeing up in this weeks Gateway to THE OPEN Mizuno Open it could lead to a place in this year’s Open Championship.
The event is the fourth stop in The Open Qualifying Series and will be played from 26-29 May at JFE Setonaikai Golf Club in Okayama. The leading four players that finish in the top 12 and ties will earn a place in THE OPEN from 14-17 July.
The Japan Tour event, that actually used The Open championship logo in all it’s promotion.
Players in the field that are already exempt for THE 145th OPEN at Royal Troon:

Yusaku Miyazato
In the event of a tie for a qualifying place, the player with the higher ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) at the beginning of the week commencing 23 May will be awarded a place in THE OPEN.
