Danny Willett Declares He Will Skip Masters If Baby Born Early.

Danny Willett is due to become a father for a first time on the final day of the Masters.

However the Sheffield-born golfer was quite clear in stating if his baby son, as he and his wife know the sex of the baby, arrives early then he will not tee up at Augusta National.

The Callaway star golfer made his Masters debut last year finishing in a share of 38th place and in a year when he played all four Majors for a first occasion in his pro career.

However he’s facing the prospect of having to miss the year’s first Major if his wife, Nicole delivers their baby ahead of April 10th.

“Nic’s due that week, so it all depends on how our little man is fairing, if he fancies coming out early on, it would be great, but if not, I won’t be playing,” he said.

“So if it’s a nice, easy smooth early birth and I can get out to Augusta, even if I go and fly out Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s one of the golf tournaments you don’t really want to miss.”

And Willett had a small group of golf journalists who attended his pre WGC – Cadillac Championship press conference in raptures when he responded to suggestions if he and his wife considered an induced labour.

“In an ideal world, it will come out a little bit early so if he’s ready, it might be something  that we look at,” he said.

“But, you know, if he’s not cooked yet, then we’re just going to leave him a little bit longer (laughter) in and wait.

“It’s something I don’t think you can really force;  you can’t really force it in life, can you.”
