The Queen of Malaysia has delivered the royal seal of approval to the second edition of the EurAsia Cup.
The event will commence Friday the the Glenmarie Golf Club course in Kuala Lumpur and on the same course where in 2014 Europe and Asia battled their way to a 10 all draw.
Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah, arriving in golf shoes, first was introduced to the two captains – European Team Captain Darren Clarke and Asian Team Captain Jeev Milkha Singh – who then each proceeded to introduce their team members to the Queen.
The Queen is a very avid golf fan and delighted in particular to meet Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter, who were named by Clarke, as his two ‘wildcard’ picks.
Her Majesty then made her way to the first tee where she chatted with Westwood ahead of hitting an impressive ceremonial opening drive off the back tee at the first hole. She then joined Westwood in participating in the Pro-Am.
Westwood also enjoys Malaysian ‘royalty’ having been crowned King of the Malaysian Open in 1997 and again two years ago.
Here is a selection of photographs of the Royal occasion.
