Marc Warren Buoyed By Back Nine British Masters Showing.

Scotland’s Marc Warren is hosting a corporate outing in Devon, England today (Monday) buoyed by his closing back nine efforts in a round of 70 to share 33rd place at four under par in the British Masters at Woburn

Warren birdied his closing two holes as just as he had done on Friday but it was Saturday’s indifferent end to his round that sucked much of the wind out of his Woburn sails when he four-putted for an 18th hole triple bogey ‘7’.

“It’s always nice to birdie the last two holes especially on a Sunday.  I just played lovely on the back nine and didn’t really miss a shot,” he said yesterday.

“I just had good chances all the way including birdies from eight feet at 17 and then at the last my second shot was right down the flagstick and then sinking a nine-footer.

Marc Warren ends the British Masters at four under par but buoyed by his back nine showing on the final day.

“Saturday’s finish was poor even and was very much a battling and grinding day just like Friday.

“It would have been a pretty similar result apart from 18 but I just got too aggressive and clipped a tree on the right and then having to take an unplayable.

“Then to have four putts wasn’t the best finish.”

Warren remains at 17th on the Race to Dubai but is yet to break into the top-50 on the Ryder Cup points table.

And Stirling’s Craig Lee, who played alongside Warren, bogeyed two of his closing three in a 71 for a two under par tally.

Lee also picked up two places to 120th on the Race to Dubai but still needing to get himself inside the top-111 in his last two events this year.

“That was very expensive and not very clever. I always feel as though I am chasing rounds at the moment,” said Lee.

“I’m getting round the course without playing great golf, but we will keep plugging away.

“Every penny counts the position I’m in and we’ve seen cases in the past where people have lost cards by less than Euros 200.”
