Peter Lawrie now faces five weeks of uncertainty with a goal in wrapping-up his card for next season falling short at the Italian Open in Monza.
Lawrie needed a top-five finish to move from his current 121st Race to Dubai standing and inside the top-110 but he had to settle for a share of 14th in posting a final round 68 for a 15-under par tally.
The Dubliner’s goal of securing an entry into this week’s European Open at Bad Griesbach, and to the east of Munich, fell four shots shy of qualifying top-10.
And at the end of the event, Lawrie had in fact picked up 10 spots on the Race to Dubai to be now ranked 111th on the money list and just one place outside of full 2016 Tour membership.
“It’s been a good scoring week with three rounds in the 60s and a 70 but I’ve just come up a few places short of getting myself into the European Open,” he said.

“I’ve now got zero events left this year and I will need to rely on a few more invitations.
“One of those hopefully will be next fortnight’s Dunhill Links as I led home the amateur champion last year, so I am hoping organisers will remember that.”
Padraig Harrington collected his second lot of Ryder Cup points in as many weeks posting a last round of 67 to share 33rd place on 12-under par.
“I was happy with my week and showed some nice form particularly with the putter that was pleasing,” he said.
“So my my putting was much better than it’s been for some time and outside of that I just didn’t get my short-irons close enough, and I will concentrate on that aspect of my game ahead of my next event, the Dunhill Links.”
And Paul McGinley’s next event will also be in Scotland but without long-time event partner and Hollywood star Kyle MacLaughlin.
“Kyle phoned me to say he couldn’t make the Dunhill as he’s filming a remake of Twin Peaks’ as it’s the same,” said McGinley.
McGinley rounded off his penultimate event of the year with a score of 73 for a one over tally.
And Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke was a final round no show and citing a wrist injury ahead of travelling to the States on Friday for the 2016 Ryder Cup ‘Year to Go’ celebrations at Hazeltine.
Germany’s Martin Kaymer (67) let slip a first victory this year losing a second hole play-off to Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg (70) after both players ended play tied at 19-under par.
