Martin Kaymer Warming-Up For 144th Open At Glasgow (Gailes) Golf Club.

Double Major winning Martin Kaymer will warm up for next fortnight’s Open Championship playing a practice round at the famed Glasgow (Gailes) Golf club on the Scotland west coast.

The course earlier this week hosted an Open qualifier and has long enjoyed a rich history in being a part of golf’s oldest major.

Kaymer’s long-time caddie Craig ‘Wee Man’ Connelly lives in Glasgow and has arranged with the club for the German to play the course on Saturday 11th July.

It means Kaymer missing next week’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Gullane but the former World No. 1 will be sure to gain plenty of experience ahead of the 144th Open playing teeing up on the Gailes course.

“I have decided not to play the Scottish Open this year so Craig my caddy has arranged for us to play the Gailes course and where they played an Open qualifier on Tuesday,” said Kaymer before tee off in today’s commencing French Open.

“Craig’s always been talking about the course and how it would be a good warm-up for The Open so I am looking forward to playing there.

“So that should be very good practice before we drive up to St. Andrews on the Sunday.”
