Beware! Tiger Woods Back On The Prowl.

Beware!  Tiger Woods is back on the prowl.

Those who have written Woods off could be running scared Sunday night after Woods posted his second straight round in the 60s to be well in contention at the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia.

The 14-time Major winner followed up his 66 in the first round with a 69 in the second to have as many rounds in the 60s this week as he had all season up to this point.

It was a little bumpier ride than yesterday when Woods played just two holes over par. Today, he had three bogeys and four birdies, including a good one at the last.

Woods, at 5 under, will start the weekend inside the top 35 which is great news for somebody trying to get some reps in before the season’s final two major championships. Woods, who declined to talk to the media, scrambled hard on Friday given how poorly he drove it.

He hit 14 of 18 greens in regulation for the second straight day after only hitting seven of fairways (he hit 10 on Thursday). Shots like this are helpful (Woods drove it into the water earlier on this hole).

Woods is just four back of the lead going into Saturday’s round. He likely won’t contend, but that we’re even talking about him is a win for Big Cat with the British Open looming.

If he can keep up what he did in the first few days, a top 10 finish is not out of the question. Despite the weakness of this field, that would be a massive step in the right direction for Tiger.
