Karl MacGinty Heads To Retirement Honoured With Commemorative 2015 Masters Flag.

The Irish Independent’s long-time golf correspondent Karl MacGinty has retired and the media centers on the European Tour and PGA Tour will never be the same.

In fact, the Media Center at the BMW PGA Championship was very quite without the presence of ‘King Karl’.

Karl is a member of the Association of Golf Writers (AGW) and was presented with a commemorative 2015 Masters flag signed by the five Irish-born players who competed earlier this year at Augusta National.

It was not only Karl’s last tournament reporting for the Irish Independent but it was an historic occasion for Ireland golf given it was the first occasion five Irish had teed-up in the season’s first Major.

And after obtaining the signatures of World No. Rory McIlroy the commemorative flag was signed by Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Shane Lowry while Paul McGinley later added his message.

Karl attended the Media Center last Sunday in the company of his wife, Mary where the presentation was hosted by AGW Chairman and the Daily Mail’s golf correspondent, Derek Lawrenson.
