No, it was Trump Turnberry and mid-April with the Scotland west coast bathed in sunshine for the 2015 Ricoh Women’s British Open Media Day at Turnberry.

The Irish Sea was like a mill pond as some of women’s greatest golfers arrived at Trump Turnberry ahead of the 2015 returning to the spectacular Ailsa Course for the first time since 2002, and taking place 30th July to 2nd August and competing for a prize fund of UK £1,990,266 (US $3 million).

Defending Champion Mo Martin is back to full fitness after injuring her thumb the week following her stunning victory last year and is looking forward to her title defence.

England’s ultra-talented 19-year old Charley Hull, winner of the 2014 LET Order of Merit and fresh from a T26th place at the first Major of the year, the ANA Inspiration, said, “The last time I played at Turnberry I was only nine so it’s probably a good thing I am getting another look at the course!

“So it’s hard to believe this is already my fourth time playing in the Ricoh Women’s British Open and it is the tournament I am looking forward to most this year.

“I finished 12th at Birkdale last year mainly thanks to my third round 66 so I am definitely hoping to improve on that performance this year.”

Australian veteran Karrie Webb won the Women’s British Open in 2002 at Turnberry and where countryman Greg Norman captured the first of two Open Championship titles in 1986.
