Saturday is University Day
Farmers Insurance is once again rewarding school spirit during the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open, encouraging fans and TOUR players to wear their university colors in support of Farmers “University of Farmers” advertising campaign.

Fans and TOUR players are encouraged to wear their own university colors to support the program and raise money for charity. For “extra credit” Farmers will make donations to college golf programs from players posting the best third-round 18-hole scores. The player with the low third-round score will receive $10,000 for his alma mater’s golf team and an additional donation will be made for second place. Every player who wears his school colors on Saturday will have $500 donated in his name to his college’s golf program.

University Day has raised more than $180,000 for college golf since it began in 2011, thanks to participation from top players like Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Billy Horschel, Hunter Mahan, Jordan Spieth and Keegan Bradley.

How the Farmers Insurance Open was won by Scott Stallings in 2014

Stallings shot a final-round 68 to cling to a one-shot victory over five other players, including Jason Day, Pat Perez, Marc Leishman, Graham DeLaet and K.J. Choi. Stallings won his third career PGA TOUR event at the age of 28 years, 10 months and one day in his 88th career start. Three of Stallings 10 top-10 finishes have been victories.

A look at the field

 14 of the 30 players that made it to the 2014 TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola will play in the Farmers Insurance Open: Billy Horschel, Chris Kirk, Jimmy Walker, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Bill Haas, Cameron Tringale, Gary Woodland, John Senden, Morgan Hoffmann, Hideki Matsuyama and Dustin Johnson.

 20 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings: Justin Rose, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth,

 Jimmy Walker the current FedExCup leader, who won the Sony Open in Hawaii three weeks ago,
missed the cut at last year’s Farmers Insurance Open. Walker has two top 10s in seven starts at Torrey
Pines.

 Three of the last four FedExCup champions are in the Farmers Insurance Open field (Billy
Horschel/2014, Brandt Snedeker/2012 and Bill Haas/2011).

 Three-time Farmers Insurance Open winner and San Diego native Phil Mickelson will make his 26th start in the event. He has 10 top 10s, but had to WD after round two last year due to injury.

 Brandt Snedeker will make his ninth career start in the Farmers Insurance Open. He has five top 10s in his previous eight starts. Snedeker’s finishes: 2007/3, 2008/MC, 2009/T42, 2010/T2, 2011/T9, 2012/won, 2013/T2, 2014/MC.

 Tiger Woods looks to inch closer to the PGA TOUR’s all-time victory total. He is currently second with 79 TOUR wins, just three behind Sam Snead’s 82. Woods has seven wins, 12 top 10s and has made all 14 cuts in the Farmers Insurance Open. Woods missed the 54-hole cut last year at Torrey Pines and
finished T80.

 Dustin Johnson will make his first start on the PGA TOUR since missing the cut at the 2014 RBC
Canadian Open in July.

There has never been a rookie winner at the Farmers Insurance Open. Gene Littler won the event as an amateur in 1954.

The only two international players to win the Farmers Insurance Open are Gary Player (1963) and Jose Maria Olazabal (2002).

The largest final round come-from-behind win at the Farmers Insurance Open is eight shots by Scott Simpson in 1998.
