Rory McIlroy Running Late Again As He Was Two Years Ago – Video.

Rory McIlroy was running late again.

With just a week to the Ryder Cup, and with memories still very fresh of McIlroy’s Police car dash to Medinah, and it’s come to light the World No. 1 found himself pressed to be on time for a sponsor’s appointment yesterday on the River Thames.

Golf reporting colleague and good friend, Neil McLeman reported McIlroy had intended to fly from Belfast to London City Airport for a Santander promotion hitting golf balls off a floating barge anchored close to Tower Bridge.

Due to fog in inner London,  McIlroy had to fly to London Gatwick but then when he was informed the traffic was heavy into London he chose not to avail himself of a ride in a Police car as he had done on the final day of the 2012 Ryder Cup, and instead paid the fare to ride the Gatwick Express train into London.

“It was an adventure,” he told Neil.

“There was fog at London City Airport so I had to fly to Gatwick.  It was then going to take an hour by car but just half-an-hour on the train, so that sounded much better.”

However there will be no chance of McIlroy missing any of his tee times next week as the Gleneagles Hotel, and where both teams will be residing, is just a wedge shot from the first tee of the PGA Centenary Course.

It's come to light Rory McIlroy was again running late for an appointment and this time he caught the train instead of hopping a ride in a Chicago Police car.

And hereunder is video footage of an interview with McIlroy at yesterday’s Santander promotion and with the World No. 1 admitting there will be proverbial ‘target’ on his back when he steps out next Friday onto the first tee at Gleneagles.
