Snedeker Not About To Sit By The Phone Waiting For Watson To Call.

American Brandt Snedeker is not about to sit by the telephone waiting for a call from USA Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson after crashing out of the Deutsche Bank Championship with scores of 72 and 76 for a shock six over par tally.

It sent Snedeker crashing down the leader board into a share of 90th place and out of the closing two rounds of the $8m event at TPC Boston.

Snedeker competed in the 2012 Ryder Cup and is currently ranked 20th on the USA Team points table, and in with a strong chance prior to this week of earning a ‘wildcard’ pick.

But after a second round that included an eagle, two birdies but also seven bogeys and a double bogey Snedeker was heading home to spend time with his children.

“It certainly didn’t help my cause the last two days,” he said.

“I know I’m playing good. I know if my name is called I’m up to it. I didn’t do anything the last week or two weeks to justify or to solidify a spot on the team. I couldn’t really tell you.

“And if asked by Tom why I should be on his team I would say: ‘Tom, I know I’m playing well, I know I’m doing the right stuff. I didn’t come through the last two weeks, which is frustrating on my part.

“I could easily have shot 63 when I teed it up this morning. I think he realizes golf is what it is. Sometimes you don’t get out of what you put into it. And hopefully he sees that part of it.

“There’s other guys playing great. So it would be really hard for me to sit here and make my case when other guys at the top of the leader board have a chance to win this week.”

And when asked will he be worried the next two days before Watson announces his picks at 7pm US Eastern time, Snedeker responded:  “No, I’ll go home and have fun watching the guys up on the top of the leader board try to win.

“It’s not going to be hard. I’m not going to adjust my schedule or do anything, wait by the phone or anything like that. I’ve got two kids at home waiting to see me, so I’ll be okay.”
