Victor Dubuisson Struggling To Embrace Ryder Cup Debut.

Guaranteed Ryder Cup rookie Victor Dubuisson is struggling to embrace becoming a member of the European Team.

The softly-spoken Frenchman has been atop of the European points table since capturing last October’s Turkish Airlines Open.

Dubuisson then cemented his place in Paul McGinley’s team finishing runner-up in February’s WGC – Accenture Match-Play Championship while he strengthened his grip on the top qualifying spot being joint second in the recent Nordea Masters.

In fact, the 24-year old with the Errol Flynn looks is 110,868 points ahead of second place Henrik Stenson.

But unlike his legendary romantic swashbuckling Hollywood lookalike Dubuisson finds it hard embracing impending stardom when asked about competing at Gleneagles.

“I don’t know if I am in the team yet and I am going to have to keep playing well if I am going to make the team,” he said ahead of this week’s French Open.

“Of course, I would love be playing in the Ryder Cup but there is still many qualifying tournaments to play including two Majors and a WGC event.

“So my goal is just to keep playing so that I can be certain of playing for Europe.”

But then when McGinley was brought up-to-date with Dubuisson’s remarks he laughed off the young Frenchman’s team status.

“He’s probably being diplomatic but I can say for sure he’ll be in the team (laughing),” said McGinley.

However McGinley ruled out any cause to sit down at length with Dubuisson other than a passing chat that the Irishman has been undertaking with most of those in the make-up to be in his side.

“I’m in communication with all the players but it’s just giving them about five to 10 minutes and leaving any lengthy talks till after the U.S. PGA, as I don’t want to get inside their minds too much at this stage,” said the Irishman.

“As for Victor, I’ve played alongside Victor a number of times but not since I was made captain.

“And won’t make a point of asking the Tour to be paired with him over coming months.  I know his game and I know what he does.”
