Adam Scott Advises Bryden MacPherson To Go Have A Few Beers After 90.

Australia’s Adam Scott posted the lowest score of the afternoon group on day one of the 143rd Open and then advised his compatriot Bryden MacPherson to go have a few beers after the 23-year old shot an opening score of 90.

Scott mastered the bright but difficult afternoon conditions with a four under par 68 to be trailing just two strokes behind Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy once again jumped from the blocks to take the lead and just a week after setting a then new Royal Aberdeen course record of 64 on day one of the Scottish Open.

However at the opposite end of the leader board is MacPherson who is lying in last place in the 156-player field and eight shots behind former Open winner, Sandy Lyle and the player featuring on the very pages ahead of him in the official 2014 Open Championship ‘Players Guide’.

Included in MacPherson’s round was five bogeys, three double bogeys, a 12th hole quadruple bogey and a 14th hole triple bogey.

“Tell Bryden to have a couple of beers, that’s all he can do,” said Scott smiling.

The Melbourne-born MacPherson captured the 2011 British Amateur Championship to make his Open Championship debut that same year at Royal St. Georges.

He qualified for a second Open appearance after being among the three leading qualifiers in last December’s Australian Open at Royal Sydney,
