Angel Cabrera Posts Best Score All Season To Seize Wells Fargo Leading Reins.

Argentina’s double Major winning Angel Cabrera posted his best score all season, a six under par 66, to seize the leading reins on day one of the Wells Fargo Championship.

Cabrera had seven birdies and just bogey in his lowest PGA Tour score since a similar round on day two of last June’s Traveller’s Championship.

It is also Cabrera’s lowest-ever Quail Hollow score in 13 rounds of the suburban Charlotte course, and a shot less than his prior best of a 67 on day two of the 2010 event where he was placed third behind Rory McIlroy.

Cabrera, a former Masters and US Open winner, capped his round with three birdies in succession from the 10th hole.

“I had a really good round and I played very well on the greens,” he said.

“The change they have made to Bermuda grass on the greens is very good, while the changes to the 16th hole is a really good change.”

Fellow Masters champion Phil Mickelson tied Cabrera in the lead late in the Americans round before ending in a share of second place on five under par leaving the affable Argentinean holding the Wells Fargo lead reins.
