Angel Cabrera Excited At Prospect Of A First Regular PGA Tour Event Victory.

Double Major winning Angel Cabrera is excited with two rounds remaining of the Wells Fargo Championship of a first-ever regular PGA Tour success.

Cabrera added a second round 69 to his opening score of 66 to move to share of the lead at nine under par in the $US 6.9m event being played at Quail Hollow.

The Argentinean captured the 1997 U.S. Open at Oakmont and two years later was fitted with an Augusta green jacket in capturing the Masters.

However it will surprise many the now 44-year old has not tasted success at a regular PGA Tour level.

In fact, Cabrera’s best finish on the main tour was third behind Rory McIlroy in the 2010 Wells Fargo Championship.

“I am excited about the prospect honestly of winning my first regular PGA Tour event as every time I play I try and win,” said Cabrera.

“I’m of course happy to be in position to win this tournament but every time I go out and play I’m hoping to win.”

However when asked if golf followers might be surprised to know that Cabrera hasn’t tasted success in a regular event.

“I’m definitely not surprised as it’s not easy to thing  to do,” he said.

“When I won my first Major at Oakmont it was a bit of a shock to me.  The second one at Augusta I definitely wasn’t surprised.  But like I said earlier, I will continue to work, and that’s where these results come from, and I will continue to work hard and win other tournaments.”
