Russell Knox Looking To Take His New Wife To Scottish Open At Royal Aberdeen.

US-born Scot Russell Knox is hoping organisers will grant him an invitation so that he can bring his new bride to the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen.

Knox will marry long-time girlfriend and former tennis pro, Andrea Hernandez in a low-key ceremony on April 12th in Jacksonville, Florida.

The 28-year old PGA Tour based Knox is six years younger than his future Mexican-born wife and while she’s travelled twice before to Scotland if he’s afforded an invitation to contest the July 10th commencing event at Royal Aberdeen.

He said:  “I’ve emailed organisers of the Scottish Open indicating how much I would love to play at Royal Aberdeen.

“They said they were making a decision in a few weeks but I would really welcome an invitation.

“And I will take Andrea with me that would make the trip home even more special.”

Knox walked from the final green at last Sunday’s Valero Texas Open bitterly disappointed in shooting a last round 73 to share 26th place at level par.

It lifted Knox to 36th on the PGA money list and just $US 19,879 short of earning $US 1m this season, with all those ahead of him, but with the exception of Tiger Woods (178th with $US 86,919), each having earned over $US 1m this year.

And while disappointed with his Texas finish Knox knows he can look back with pride of his achievements in recent weeks capped by losing out in a play-off for the Honda Classic.

He said:  “It’s been a good few weeks especially playing so well at the Honda Classic and I am pleased.

“Even though I didn’t win the result kicked a lot of goals for me.  Also I kind of expected to play well and felt some good results were coming.

“It’s just that playing so poorly in San Antonio on the last day annoys me.

“But I am home for two weeks and getting myself married so there is much to look forward, and I’ll come back from the wedding to play Hilton Head for a first time with the batteries recharged and new enthusiasm.”
