Patrick Reed Drives Off With Cadillac Championship – Youngest-Ever WGC Champion.

American Patrick Reed withstood a last hole bogey to drive off with the WGC – Cadillac Championship crown.

The Texas-born Reed posted a final round level par 72 to win a third PGA Tour title along with a $US 1.53m first prize cheque.

Reed was two shots clear of the field at the start of the final day and maintained that advantage for much of the day including still leading by two standing on the 18th tee.

The American’s victory cause was helped when Welshman Jamie Donaldson, and playing two groups ahead of Reed, also bogeyed the last in a round of 70 that saw him settle for a share of second alongside Bubba Watson (68) on three under par.

And Reed created WGC history in becoming the youngest-ever champion since the events were first staged in 1999.

At age 23 years, 7 months and 4 days, Reed is 26 days younger than when Tiger Woods captured the 1999 WGC – Bridgestone Invitational.
