McDowell Kisses & Makes Up With Grand Old Lady.

A putting lesson from his physio helped Graeme McDowell kiss and make-up with the Grand Old Lady of Australian golf on day three of the ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf at Royal Melbourne.

McDowell finally got himself under par to be three under par with a round in the $8m event.

He could then dine out with delight at the Stoke House and one of Melbourne’s famed restaurants located a short distance from the Melbourne CBD and situated on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, and also just a street away from where McDowell’s Horizon Sports manager, Conor Ridge once resided in the Victorian capital.

_AP13840“So this is what it’s come do getting lessons off my physio,” said McDowell.

“I just controlled my ball flight a lot better today and that is what you have to do around here when it’s windy.

“When you are not able to control your fade around here you struggle, and that is what was happening to me the first two days, and wasn’t able to control my golf ball into the greens.

“But I hit a lot of quality shots today and kept it in play and after dropping 14 shots in two days I dropped none today.

“That was certainly the difference.”

McDowell was delighted particularly to par the eighth hole after bogeys both days and also to walk off the last with a par four after taking a double on day one and a bogey on Friday.

“Eighteen is a tough hole as the tee shot doesn’t set up for me at all with a couple of trees just off the left side and they block the shape of my ball,” he said.

“The tee shot off 18 just makes me feel uncomfortable and I was happy to make four there.

“So now that I am sort of back in the mix it gives me something to aim for tomorrow, and like I say I am just very happy with the way I hit the golf ball today.

“And in controlling the golf ball I was subsequently able to control my emotions as I didn’t do that very well the last two days as it was a frustrating start to this tournament.

“I just let Royal Melbourne get the better of me the last two days but it’s nice to get a couple back on the course today.”

McDowell has the last round left in Melbourne before heading back to his new wife in Orlando and then heading to L A for his final event of the year, the Tiger Woods hosted World Challenge for a last time in Thousand Oaks.

Woods has announced on his website the event will be heading to the exclusive Isleworth Club from 2015.
