Jeev Milka Singh Hoping To Qualify For US Open But Then Staring At Painful Dextrose Injection.

Reigning Scottish Open champion, Jeev Milka Singh will try and fight his way through the pain barrier in Monday’s 36-hole US Open qualifier at Walton Heath in Surrey.

Singh has an injured right index finger that forced him out after 10 holes on day two of this week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The Indian golfer has been undergoing periodic treatment ever since last July when he injured his hand in playing a shot during the second round and on route to victory at Castle Stuart near Inverness.

Singh, who is also a double Asian Tour No. 1, was advised last week to undergo a ‘Dextrose Injection’ and will travel to Leeds on Tuesday, and after the US Open qualifier for the treatment.

“I’ve been playing with this annoying hand injury for nearly 12 months and finally got some advice for the right treatment,” said Singh.

“I have been managing to deal with it but I just went too deep playing a 3-iron practice shot on the range and had this shooting pain right across the palm of my hand.

“The only problem is that I’ve also been told that for four days after the injection my hand is going to hurt like hell and it’s going to swell-up big time.

“A lot of footballers suffer the same type of hand injury.

“But you can see looking at my right index finger, it’s looking a bit wonky and out of shape.”

Singh has been advised after being administered the injection he cannot not touch a golf club for 10 days and for this reason he has withdrawn from the next two European Tour events – Nordea Masters in Stockholm, Sweden and the June 6th commencing Lyoness Open in Vienna, Austria.

Singh will enter Monday’s US Open sectional qualifier have failed to win through to the US Open four of the past five years.

“I’m not too confident of my chances of getting through but then you never know,” he said.
“There’s an old saying in golf that says ‘beware the injured golfer’ so hopefully I can grab one of the qualifying spots on Monday.”
