England’s Danny Willett is looking to join World No. 1 and former GB & I Walker Cup team mate, Rory McIlroy with two victories this year after moving into contention on day two of the Omega European Masters.

Two months after a first Tour victory and the Sheffield-born Willet is now eyeing a second success.

Willett, 24 posted a second round 67 to move to eight under and just a shot behind Frenchman Julien Quesne in very cold conditions on the Alpine Crans-sur-Sierre course.

In late June, Willett finally joined McIlroy in the Tour winner’s circle in capturing the BMW International Open in Cologne.

It had taken Willett 106 events to win that first Tour title, and now like that No. 19 bus, he’s primed to win again just four events on.

“I’m naturally keen to win again but then it’s all too easy to switch off mentally after a win,” he said.

“It’s because you’ve sewn-up your card for another couple of years.

“So it depends what kind of personality you are really, but for me, I want to taste that winning feeling every week I pitch up.

“It isn’t realistic but that’s the goal, and as long as you’re in with a decent shout come Sunday, you know you’ve played well.”
