Wagner Heading To Augusta After Win In Hawaii

Johnson Wagner will end a four-year drought and make only his second Masters appearance after capturing the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The 31-year old Texas-born Wagner, donning a mustache was the surprise package over of the final round in the PGA Tour’s second event of 2012.

Wagner shot a closing three under par 67 for a two-shot victory at 13-under par and his third PGA Tour success.

I was definitely telling people to expect something early this year, which is a nice feeling,” said Wagner.

“Usually, my confidence is low. I’m kind of shy in a little shell. And for some reason, I just had way more energy and confidence going into this year.”

Four players- Sweden’s Carl Pettesson (67) and the American trio of Sean O’Hair (67), Harrison Frazer (67) and Charles Howell 111 (69) were tied in second place on 11-under par.

Biggest disappointment was that of Florida-born Matt Every who went into the last day tied for the lead but carded a closing 72 to share sixth place.
