Westwood Ends Season With Seven Shot Winning Thai Takeaway.

Lee Westwood moved back to No. 2 in the world with a commanding seven shot victory in the inaugural Thailand Golf Championship in Bangkok.

Westwood led from start to finish to capture his 37th pro career title and a fourth success this season.

Though if you count Westwoood’s success in November’s China Golf Challenge his tally of victories is five.

The 38-year old England golfer never once lost the lead since signing for a course record 12-under par 60 on day one of the event staged on the Amata Spring course.

He led the first round by five, the second day by 11 shots and then went into the final round of the final event on this year’s Asian Tour in front by four.

Westwood’s win continues a rich vien of Asian success with his first victory in Thailand now alongside prior wins in Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Indonesia and Korea.

It is also the third occasion in his sparkling pro career Westwood has enjoyed four wins or more in a season.

He had five full tournament victories in both 1998 and 2000 when he had five.

The popular Westwood arrived in Thailand lying No. 3 in the world but needed only to finish first or second to unseat Rory McIlroy.

Westwood will return home for Christmas and then enjoy  a well-earned family holiday at the Sandy Lane Resort in Barbados.

He will commence his 2012 season in the January 26th starting Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
