Rain Forcials Officials To Reduce Horizon Hills Event To 54 Holes.

For a fifth day running rain continued to play havoc with the 2011 Iskandar Johor Open so much so officials finally took the step to reduce the $US 2m event to 54 holes.

Players were summonded from the course at 3pm local time Saturday which is exactly the same time play was halted on Friday.

The leading four players had managed to play just one hole with defending champion Padraig Harrington, who is tied in second place at 11-under par, to resume his round to the left of the second fairway.

The Irishman had also only played one hole on Tuesday when the Pro-Am was cancelled.

Sweden’s Daniel Chopra, who is playing alongside Harrington and who also has 17 holes to play, said Sunday’s last day will now be a shootout to the $US 333,330 first prize purse.

“I hit a couple of pretty good shots before the rain came and all the stoppages do is kill any momentum,” said Chopra.

“But then we can’t control the weather and all you can do is be mentally prepared for it and 54 holes now will change the way you think.

“It is now going to be more of a shoot out as there are a few players who are reasonably close and can have a good round and have the chance of winning.

“It should be fun and hopefully the weather will hold out.”
