McIlroy’s Schedule Gets Busier With Addition Of Korean Open.

Rory McIlroy’s decision not to contest this week’s Seve Trophy is understandable given his his committments up to the end of the year.

McIlroy’s worldwind end to his season only gets busier with the reigning U.S. Open confirming he is now set to contest next month’s Korean Open.

McIlroy will attempt to win on the Asian continent for a first occasion when he tees-up in the October 6th to 9th event.

The 22-year old first contested the One Asia Tour event two years finishing in a share of third place.

This year’s 54th Korean Open, with a prize purse of 1m Won (Euro 680,000), will again be staged at the Woo Jeong Hills  Country Club in Cheonan.

Past champion of the Korean Open include Y. E. Yang (2010), Vijay Singh (2007), John Daly (2003), Sergio Garcia (2002) and K. J. Choi (1996 & 1999).

McIlroy will remain in the region to join World No. 2 Lee Westwood, World No. 18 Ian Poulter and China’s No. 1 Liang Wen-chong in the China Golf Challenge.

The four golfers will compete over two or three holes at each of eight courses in Shanghai (October 10), Beijing (October 11 and 12), Dalian (October 13), Chongqing (October 14), Dongguan (October 15) and Macau (October 16).

McIlroy’s busy schedule then takes him to Bermuda for the October 18-19 Grand Slam of Golf featuring the four Major winners of 2011 competing over 36-holes for a $US 1.35m purse.

He then crosses back to China for two events highlighted by the November 3rd commencing WGC – HSBC Champions event in Shanghai.
