Tiger Advised To Look At Himself In The Mirror

Greg Norman’s suggested Tiger Woods takes a look at himself in the mirror, and get used to the fact his days of dominating golf are over.

Woods hasn’t won anywhere since being fitted with the traditional gold jacket in capturing the Australian Masters near the end of 2009.

And the former long-time World No. 1 slipped a further three places to No. 33 after missing the halfway at last week’s PGA Championship in Atlanta.

Norman was present in Atlanta to host a ‘possible’ and ‘probable’ International Presidents Cup get-together.

He didn’t stay around to see Woods miss the cut or catch Keegan Bradley become golf’s newest Major Champion.

But like Woods, Norman dominated golf for a lengthy period, and while the Australian only managed to secure two Majors in his career, the Great White Shark was able to accept he could no longer devour the opposition.

That’s his message to Woods, who hasn’t won a Major since capturing the 2008 U.S Open, and now looks at very long odds of ever beating Jack Nicklaus 18 Major winning haul.

“I don’t know why you want to hang on and hang on, and try to pretend, and put this veil of fabrication up,” said Norman.

“That’s why I say you’ve got to admit the truth.

“You have to wake up every morning and look yourself in the mirror and the questions you ask yourself you have to answer truthfully.

“You’re the only one who can do that. That’s the big thing.

“I hate to see a great athlete like Tiger go through what he’s going through.  But it’s up to him as happiness comes within.  It doesn’t come from anywhere else.

“Anyway, Tiger will work it out.”

And while the make-up of Norman’s International Team looks clearer after the PGA Championship, rival USA Captain, Fred Couples is no doubt wondering, like the rest of the golf world, if Woods will play again before his next scheduled event.

That’s the November 10th starting Australian Open in Sydney, an event where Woods made his Australian pro career debut in late 1996, and with organisers believed to have paid the ‘small’ sum of $250,000 for Woods’ appearance.

Automatic team qualification ends on September 18th after the BMW Championship.

Norman and Couples will then announce their two ‘Captain’s Picks’ on September 28th and will Couples certain to select Woods who played in the 1998 Presidents Cup when it was held in 1998 at Melbourne.
