Rickie Fowler – We Miss The Generous Victory Gesture Of A Dozen Bottles Of Bubbly

It is almost unheard of that when a top-ranked golfer wins a golf tournament he goes out of his way to arrange for a dozen bottles of bubbly to be delivered to the press room. This has been the practice each time Rickie Fowler has won either on the PGA Tour or the now DP World Tour, and with Fowler, and through his manager, organizing either champers or ice-cold beers for the attending media at each of his five PGA Tour wins or his pair of DP World Tour victories. There was champagne all around when ...

Wild Winds, Wild Shots & Wild Deer Makes For Wild Day For Lowry & All At RBC Heritage

Wild winds, wild shots, and also wild deer presented Shane Lowry and his colleagues with one of the wildest days for some time on day two at the RBC Heritage Classic in South Carolina. Even wilder are the conditions that help present a scenario of just nine shots separating the 71 players who made the even-par cut heading the weekend rounds of the 53rd hosting of the Euro 7.4m event on the host Harbor Town course at Hilton Head. Wind gusts up to 30 mph played havoc with the morning half of the field, ...

Ultra-talented East Lothian teenager Cameron Mukherjee is set to become the youngest to tee up in this weekend’s (April 16th & 17th) prestigious Battle Trophy at Crail Golfing Society in Fife. Mukherjee, a member at Gullane Golf Club, will tee up for the first time on the host Craighead Links course aged just 14-years, one month, 12 days.  That will also mean a 34-year age gap between himself and the oldest competitor in this year’s 72-player field. Mukherjee, and the 2021 Under-14 Scottish ...

DeChambeau About To Be Side-Lined Indefinitely After Hand Surgery Thursday In US

Bryson DeChambeau’s injury-plagued season could now be even more doubtful with reports suggesting the American is to undergo surgery tomorrow (Thursday) on his injured left hand. DeChambeau was clearly struggling at last week’s Masters hopelessly missing the cut with scores of 76 and 80 to finish ahead of just nine other players at Augusta National.  It was the first time in six Masters appearances, including earning the low amateur award in 2016, the now 28-year-old did not make the weekend ...

Lowry’s Done Everything Since Royal Portrush But Again Win

When you look at Shane Lowry’s efforts ahead of this week’s RBC Heritage, he’s virtually done everything but win in the past 33 months and the 66 events he’s contested since his Royal Portrush triumph. A buoyed Lowry found his way the 220 odd kilometers south-east from a best Augusta National finish of T3rd to the Harbor Town course where he’s had two top-10s in four starts at Hilton Head in South Carolina. Lowry has been one of the more consistent players of late plying ...

Hilton Head – A Relaxing Tour Stop But Don’t Get Caught Speeding Getting There

For most, it’s a welcome relief travelling the 130 odd miles southeast from the stress of the Masters in Augusta, Georgia to Hilton Head in South Carolina for this week’s more relaxed RBC Heritage. The most direct driving route is along South Carolina highway SC 125 and then turn right onto SC 321 before emerging south onto the I-95, and a short time later taking the turn-off to Hilton Head. Driving the two South Carolina roads is kind of like a time warp. You drive through very sleepy ...
