Hovland Matches Tiger Woods Winning Back-To-Back Hero World Challenge
.… Albany, The Bahamas
Vicktor Hovland was aged only 10-years when tournament host Tiger Woods in 2007 successfully defended the Hero World Challenge.
Until this week, and in the 23rd hosting of the event, Woods was the only player to win the event two years in succession.
Though that statistic is out the window after the now 25-year-old Hovland was handed the unique tiger trophy for a second year running here at the Albany course in the Bahamas.
However, Hovland had to do it the hard way ...
No Hug From Lowry But The Customary Pleasantries To End His Season In The Bahamas
.. Albany, The Bahamas.
“Any chance I can also get a hug?”
A very brave question to Shane Lowry soon after he left a scorer’s hut for a final occasion this year and also after he presented signed golf balls, as is customary, to the walking scorer and marker, ahead of embracing waiting manager Brian Moran.
Lowry then made his way in my direction, and like the good journalist I ensured he had to pass by me to get to the clubhouse.
It’s when I bravely asked ...
We Miss Rickie Fowler & His Victory Champagne
.. Albany, The Bahamas
The appearance of a carton of beer in the fridge of the Hero World Challenge media centre reminded me of Richie Fowler.
Let me explain.
American Kevin Kisner celebrated just a second PGA Tour ace in his career in holing out, using a 6-iron at the par-3 12th hole on day three of the Hero World Challenge.
There was no brand new Hero motor-bike nor the keys to a luxury Albany apartment but just the honour on the next tee, on route to Kisner posting a 77 and slump to a share ...
Tiger Woods: “I Told Charlie Don’t Copy My Swing, Copy Rory’s”
... Albany, The Bahamas
For a second occasion in a few days, Tiger Woods has singled out Rory McIlroy for special praise.
First Woods was very complimentary of McIlroy’s leadership qualities in taking the PGA Tour fight virtually single-handedly to LIV Golf and now on day three of the Hero World Challenge, Woods has singled out McIlroy’s swing.
Woods, who withdrew from teeing-up in the tournament he hosts, was speaking with NBC Golf during their coverage here from the Albany course ...
Lowry Eagerly Looking Forward to Hero World Challenge Final Round
… Albany, The Bahamas
Don’t get in Shane Lowry’s way come Sunday afternoon as he walks off the 18th hole of the Albany course here in the Bahamas.
Lowry already has his bags packed and just needs to pack-up his golf attire and clubs ahead of making his way to nearby Lynden Pindling International Airport.
With just one round remaining of a 13th season, Lowry is so much-looking forward to a four-week competition break.
Lowry was all smiles in holing a 10-foot birdie putt at the last and ...
Woods: “I Can Still Win Out Here & It Can Be A Big One!”
… Albany, The Bahamas
It comes as no surprise when Tiger Woods declares he not only feels he will win again but it can be a ‘big one’.
Woods, who turns 47 later this month, has not tasted success in well over three-years in capturing a fifth Masters, and the 15th major of his career with an emotional triumph at Augusta National though his tally of 15 majors is still three shy of ‘Golden Bear’ Jack Nicklaus.
As well, Woods remains tied with the late Sam Snead in sharing ...
Hovland Breaks Clear To Take Hero World Challenge Lead
…. Albany, The Bahamas
Defending champ Vicktor Hovland battled the bright but very windy conditions, breaking clear of the field with a round of 70 for a one shot lead at five-under in the Hero World Challenge here in the Bahamas.
The Norwegian superstar golfer, and with the Australian-born caddy, grabbed a sixth hole eagle ‘3’ along with four birdies, and three in succession from the 13th hole heading to the weekend rounds.
Four payers – Masters champ Scottie Scheffler ...
