Olympic swim sensation Michael Phelps will line-up alongside Richie Ramsay in tomorrow’s Omega European Masters Pro-Am. The American is playing golf for a first time in Switzerland and is now an ambassador for Omega. Ramsay is the defending Omega European Masters defending champion. Phelps competed in the 2012 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and all his work with golf instructor Hank Haney seemed to pay off when he holed a 153-foot putt during the second round of the event at Kingsbarns. Champion Italian golfer Matteo Manessero returns to competition this week high in the Swiss Alps confident of a clear head after the frustration of recent months. Manaessero has not teed up in a tournament in a nearly a month since his lowly finish in the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. The 20-year Verona-born golfer has failed to rekindle the form that saw him capture the European Tour’s flagship BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth and then finish fourth a week later in the Nordea Masters. Manassero ...

Sweden’s Henrik Stenson has finally ended a run of near misses by banking  a two shot victory in the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston. Stenson posted scores of 67, 63 and a pair closing 66s for a 22-under par tally to move to the top of the FedEx Cup Play-Off standings. It is the very popular Swede’s first win in the States since capturing the 2009 Players Championship title at TPC  Sawgrass in Flordia. American Steve Stricker was second signing for a 67 for a 20-under par total. And ...

They are the first major changes to the Alpine course since Seve Ballesteros’ controversial ...

Double Major winning Rory McIlroy has paid $2.25m for a vacant piece of Florida real estate. It’s understood McIlroy paid the amount for the vacant waterfront lot located right next to his Old Gate neighbourhood mansion at Palm Beach Gardens. The piece of land is just shy of an acre and not that big when it comes to other blocks in the exclusive Florida estate. The land is adjacent to the north side of McIlroy’s breathtaking abode in the cul-de-sac of Old Gate Lane. It is not sure what McIlroy ...

There has been a lot of changes to this week’s host Crans-sur-Sierre course since Scotland’s Richie Ramsay captured the 2012 Omega European Masters. However while most are cosmetic there is a huge structural change at the par three, 13th though there is no change in the length of the hole. The hole now mirrors the famed 17th on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass and annual event for the Players Championship. And if anything the seating now for spectators at the back of the 13th hole here ...

Those coming to this week’s Omega European Masters will be in no doubt who is the defending champion as all about Crans-Montana is snaps of Scot Richie Ramsay with a 25-foot high ‘Welcome’ sign of him covering up construction of a new chalet in the main street of Crans Montana. The construction of the chalet is also visible at the back of the first tee. There’s also pictures of Ramsay on posters, the event program and other event promotional items. Ramsay captured the title ...
