Drama In Cleveland – Massive Trucking Company Fire.
There was high drama for my www.golfile.ie colleague, Eoin Clarke and myself ahead of departing Cleveland Airport and bound for this week’s PGA Championship.
No sooner had we awoke to get ready to leave our hotel and we could hear the sounds of helicopters hovering over our hotel around 6am.
On stepping out onto the balcony a huge ball of black smoke was coming from the direction of the airport.

One of Europe’s top golf writers was a ‘smash’ hit at the now annual Callaway function ahead of the Open Championship.
Alistair Tait, who works for Golf Week magazine and is also a winner of countless media outings. was left very red faced after he thinned an 80-yard bunker shot that cannoned off a pathway in front of the Lytham Green Drive Golf Club and smashing a large plate glass window.

Once again, our very special thanks to members and staff of the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club for hosting the media on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite it raining over the first handfull of holes for a second year running, it turned into a very enjoyable evening.

Organisers of the French Open hosted a media reception today (Sat) in recognition of the announcement by Alstom to extend its sponsorship of the prestigious French tournament up to and including 2016.
Present at the reception was George O’Grady, CEO of the European Tour along with Tournament Director, Jean Van de Velde and Alstom officials.

Golf – A Study In Focus & Concentration Despite A Blazing House Fire.
The game of golf has long been described as an 18-hole exercise in focus and concentration.
However the fellow in the photograph has taken that description to another level and looking very far from flustered as a house behind him is totally engulfed in flames.
We’re not sure whether he saved par but unfortunately there was no saving the house.
Darren Clarke To Finally Receive His PGA Recognition Award.
Darren Clarke will finally received his PGA Recognition Award at this year’s annual PGA Luncheon in London.
The Ulsterman, who was due to receive the award last year, follows in the footsteps of other Claret Jug winners Sir Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin and the late Seve Ballesteros in winning the award which celebrates his outstanding contribution to the game of golf.

Cologne Beach Party – BMW Host Media To Super Evening On Banks Of Rhine River.
BMW once again showed their appreciation to the many media representatives who attended this week’s BMW International Open near Cologne.
On Saturday night we were hosted to a ‘Beach Party’ on the banks of the mighty Rhine River.
