There was high drama for my www.golfile.ie colleague, Eoin Clarke and myself ahead of departing Cleveland Airport and bound for this week’s PGA Championship. One of Europe’s top golf writers was a ‘smash’ hit at the now annual Callaway function ahead of the Open Championship. Golf – A Study In Focus & Concentration Despite A Blazing House Fire.

The game of golf has long been described as an 18-hole exercise in focus and concentration. However the fellow in the photograph has taken that description to another level and looking very far from flustered as a house behind him is totally engulfed in flames. We’re not sure whether he saved par but unfortunately there was no saving the house.

Darren Clarke To Finally Receive His PGA Recognition Award.

Darren Clarke will finally received his PGA Recognition Award at this year’s annual PGA Luncheon in London. The Ulsterman, who was due to receive the award last year, follows in the footsteps of other Claret Jug winners Sir Nick Faldo, Tony Jacklin and the late Seve Ballesteros in winning the award which celebrates his outstanding contribution to the game of golf.
