From Secretary Of A Social Golf Club To A Politicians Private Secretary & Now AGW Secretary.
It’s been a long way from long-time Secretary of the Willoughby Laurels Social Golf Club to new Secretary of the Association of Golf Writers (AGW).
I am very honored to become the first non-British born Secretary of the AGW.
The Association was founded in 1938 to help protect and assist the interests of golf writers attending golf tournaments. While my new position is yet to be ratified I will become only the seventh Secretary and following in the footsteps of good friend Peter Dixon who ...
Ernie Els Coughs Up Outstanding Bet & With Interest.
Four-time Major winning Ernie Els finally paid up on a bet we had earlier this year when Australia defeated South Africa in the cricket.
The bet was $50 but while your trulys was delighted to enjoy bragging rights let me say Ernie’s still well ahead in the ‘money taken off me’ department.
However the only problem was getting reimbursed my $50. I had hinted many times throughout the season to Ernie ‘where the hell is my money’ but each time the lovable South African ...

Once again HSBC, as organisers of this week’s World Golf Championship, have decorated the lift doors of the Le Meridien Sheshan with some of the stars of this week’s $US 8.5m event.
Among those featuring on the lift doors is Scotland’s Ryder Cup star Stephen Gallacher who is on the fourth and top floor of the official hotel.
There’s also 2013 Masters winner Adam Scott on the ground floor along with Spain’s Sergio Garcia.
But then when you get down to the lower level, ...
Shanghai Lights Up Under A Full Moon.
One of the delights in attending the WGC – HSBC Champions event is the opportunity to head into downtown Shanghai.
On this occasion we traveled into the center of Shanghai to be present at the official opening ceremony ahead of this week’s 10th anniversary tournament.
And aside for the superb spectacle featuring five of the stars of this week’s $US 8.5m event there was this wonderful sight of a full moon moving it’s way over the city and the Huang Du River that snakes its ...
Bernie Swaps Golf Clubs For Broom – Spick & Span Crail Road Signs.
It was pretty quiet day, so when good friend George Morris asked if I could help out with an odd job I was only too pleased to pop over to his house.
However on arriving at George’s house there was a local electrical blackout.
So rather than waste our time George and I got a bucket of warm soapy water along with a broom and crossed the main road to St. Andrews. The task was to clean a handful of moss and grime discolored road signs given there was little hope of relying on the local Fife ...
Spectacular Sunset Over Crail Golfing Society.
It seems like most of Scotland had their mobile phones pointed towards the sky this evening.
Monday dawned with very strong winds while there was very heavy rain this morning, Tuesday October 7th, and while it was not so windy yet there was still a heavy swell slamming into the St. Andrews Bay and Forth River shoreline in the east of Scotland.
However around 6pm there unfolded one of the most stunning sunsets for some time.
Hereunder is a collection of photographs taken from the Balcomie Links course ...
Stunning Sunset Over Kingsbarns Countryside.
I have to share with you this wonderful sunset shot taken just outside of Kingsbarns that again played host this week to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
