Padraig Harrington Presented With Two Extra Days Muirfield Practice.
Despite his obvious disappointment Padraig Harrington could see a plus in missing the halfway cut in the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
Harrington joined fellow former British Open champions Ernie Els, Darren Clarke and Sandy Lyle crashing out of the event ahead of next week’s championship at Muirfield.
The Dubliner was three under par with four holes to play and needing to pick-up just one birdie to be assured in playing all four rounds on the Gil Hanse designed course.
However three pars and ...

Scotland’s Chris Doak equalled the lowest 36-hole tally in the 41-year history of the Scottish Open and then praised the influence of his coach, Bob Torrance, after securing the lead at the midway stage of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.
A second successive 66 saw the Glaswegian end the second day as the surprise leader on 12 under par, one stroke ahead of the English duo of Ross Fisher and Matthew Southgate, Dane JB Hansen and America’s Peter Uihlein.

Ernie Els ‘Bounced’ Out Of Scottish Open At Castle Stuart.
Els struggled on day one managing to shoot a level par 72 and again found it difficult to score on day two with a round of 70 for a two under par tally on the Castle Stuart course near Inverness.
It left Els lying in a share of 90th place and two shots shy of the projected cut-off mark of four under par.
Scotland’s Chris Doak signed for a second straight 66 to take the clubhouse lead on 12-under par and lead American Peter Uihlein, who also carded a 66, by a stroke.
“It was fantastic to shoot ...
Justin Rose Gives Thumbs Up To Muirfield
New US Open champion Justin Rose has given the thumbs up to Muirfield and venue for next week’s 142nd Open Championship.
Rose spent Tuesday and Wednesday on the course before meeting up with Masters champion Adam Scott on the Muirfield putting green and with golf’s newest Major winners then sharing dinner together in the nearby Greywalls Hotel.
Rose competed in the 2002 (British) Open finishing 22nd and the last time golf’s oldest major was staged on the East Lothian county course.

Shane Lowry Hits Spectator On Route To Best Round In Three Months.
Shane Lowry produced his lowest score in three months despite hitting a woman spectator on the head with an errant shot on the opening day of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
There was a clear audible ‘thud’ when the ball hit the middle-aged woman who was sitting in a grandstand at the back of the 17th green.
It is one of the worst sights for any golfer and with Lowry naturally concerned for the woman’s well-being before handing her the gift of a signed glove and then managing to save par ...
Paul McGinley Smokes 385-Yard Drive On Scottish Open Day One.
European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley showed there’s still plenty of fire in his game smoking a 385-yard drive during his round of 67 on day one of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
It left McGinley trailing just three shots behind England’s John Parry and on day of low scoring in conditions more akin to the south of Spain than the north of Scotland.
England’s Simon Khan is in second place with a score of 65 while Carton House’s Shane Lowry shares third place with six others with scores ...
Graeme McDowell Apologises Over Castle Stuart Comments.
Graeme McDowell has apologised to Scottish Open event sponsors for his damming criticism of Castle Stuart and host venue for this week’s tournament.
McDowell, and a former Scottish Open winner, was outspoken late last month in declaring the tournament had lost its prestige since moving to Castle Stuart in 2011.
And while McDowell is practicing this week at Muirfield ahead of next week’s British Open, the former double (British) Open winning duo of Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington disagreed with ...
