Stenson Sends Rose Home To Change His Shirt

Albany, Bahamas ….

There was a bizarre and funny moment involving good friends, Ryder Cup victorious colleagues and 2016 Olympic Games Gold and Silver medal winners Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose before tee-off on day one of the Hero World Challenge.

Stenson managed seven birdies in his Hero World Challenge first round to be sharing third place at four-under par with Ryder Cup rival, Dustin Johnson who capped his round with his day with four birdies from the 11th to 15th holes.

Rose would shoot a round of 70 to be tied in seventh place.

But for those who were sharp to notice Stenson and Rose arrived each wearing burgundy coloured shirts but with Rose walking off the course wearing a blue shirt.

For Rose, there was only one solution given the Englishman lives just virtually just down the road.

“When you are older and better looking and you’re the one with house here at Albany along with owning a pool, I made Justin go home, which is just down the road, to change his shirt but it was just so funny,” said Stenson smiling.

“Every year all the clothing manufacturers say they want us to go with the colours of the various seasons like Fall and Summer and so on but then we are playing together and we both rocked-up in exactly the same coloured shirt.

“Justin was gracious enough to arrange for his wife to bring a new blue coloured shirt and even thought the new shirt looked much better on him than the first and besides not everyone can wear this burgundy colour as well I did today (smiling)”.

Rose, who posted a two-under par 70 that included an 11th hole eagle ‘3’ but also a 12th hole double-bogey ‘5’, spoke also of the class of colours.

“It was about an hour before our round but then I had my wife, Kate to bring a new shirt up from the house,” said Rose.

“On the course, we both played steady enough but then Henrik did chip and putt particularly well.

“The eagle at 11 was good and I thought that might give me momentum but then to double 12 as that 12th hole is such an awkard hole.”
