St. Andrews, Scotland …
Triple Major winning Brooks Koepka scoffed at suggestions he and Dustin Johnson were fighting on board the USA Ryder Cup team flight to France declaring the pair are the best of friends.
A London tabloid reported Johnson took exception to Koepka consulting with his fiancée, Paulina Gretsky following earlier suggestions Johnson and Gretsky had split.
There were also suggestions both Koepka and Johnson were involved in a further scuffle last Sunday following the USA’s comprehensive seven-point defeat at the hands of Europe.

However, Koepka has poured cold water on the rumours ahead of teeing-up in this week’s European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.
“There was no fight, there was no argument and he (Johnson) is one of my best friends”, said Koepka.
“I love the kid to death. We talked on the phone on Monday and yesterday, so tell me how we fought.
“So, I don’t know. People like to make a story about it and it’s not the first time there’s been a news story that’s gone out that isn’t true and as far as the camaraderie it’s fine, it’s perfect.
“The problem is you guys (Media) are trying to find a reason why we lost and the simple reason is we did not play good enough. We didn’t make the putts. We didn’t hit the fairways.
“Especially me as I lost two matches and if I win those and Tiger wins his … and Dustin lost a match with me while I lost in the Singles.
“If we go there and played the way we know how to play it’s simple maths and that is we didn’t play good enough so there is nothing wrong with out team. Jim (Furyk – captain) was great and to why we lost it is very simple.”
Koepka was asked what then was the difference in the USA Team that won the Ryder Cup in 2016 at Hazeltine, and a side he was a member, to the team that collapsed on Sunday in Versailles.
And in further playing down suggestions of any fight between he and Johnson, the Florida golfer bizarrely joked in wondering who would win should he and the current World No. 1 came to grips.
“Like I say the whole Dustin thing is a lot like .. I don’t get it and it’s actually quite funny to us as we are really good friends as there was no argument and there was no fight,” Koepka added.
“I would be curious though who would win in a fight (smiling) as it would be pretty interesting.
“We’ve never fought as that is not our relationship. We are two even-keeled guys. I can’t ever remember raising my voice to him and he’s never raised his voice to me, ever in our four years of friendship.
“That is not who we are. We are both pretty cool, calm and laid back. That is just you guys (media) trying to find why we lost and make an excuse.
“It even goes back that we got in a fight on the flight on the way over. We were sleeping.
“It’s just laughable. It really is.
“The camaraderie amongst us all is still there and we still have this ‘group chat’ going on for months now and we have all been talking about it.
“Hey, we all could have played a little better. It’s just that simple as we didn’t play good enough and all credit to Europe.”
