For a double-digit handicapped golfer who proudly lays claim to hitting the first golf shot on a golf course on the 1st January, 2000, it was interesting to note the list of the USA’s top-10 most expensive golf courses to play.
Yes, number eight on the list is located on the west coast of Ireland but the other nine are Stars and Stripes golfing beauties.
Looking down the list I have been fortunate to visit six of the listed courses but delighted to have played three – Ocean course at Kiawah Island (In the hosting of a 2012 PGA Championship media outing and where Rory McIlroy won), Bethpage Park (Black) (Hosting 2019 PGA Championship media outing where among the fourball me could manage only one net par) and Ballybunnion (Played the course on a golfing visit to Ireland).
WALKED SIX, PLAYED THREE …
Been very fortunate in my golf reporting career to have visited Kiawah, Congressional, Bethpage Park, Pebble Beach, Cypress Point & Ballybunion.
And delighted to have teed-up Kiawah (Ocean), Bethpage Park (Black) & Ballybunnion (Old)
