Ireland’s Shane Lowry revealed his wife, Wendy is due to give birth to the couple’s first child at the end of February.
And Lowry’s hoping that in becoming father he can duplicate Englishman Danny Willett and then go onto to win the Masters in early April.
Willett’s wife, Nicole gave birth to a son with just days to spare ahead of the Masters and then with Willett drawing on the inspiration in becoming a father to win the season’s first Major at Augusta National.
Now Lowry’s already dreaming of being fitted with a Masters green jacket.
“I’ve hadn’t made this public until now but my wife, Wendy is due a baby at the end of February so that’s going to be really nice becoming a father,” he said after sharing 19th place in the DP World Tour Championship.
“I will take some time off after the baby in born and then come back to play Augusta.
“So hopefully I can do what Danny Willett achieved this year.”
