The ‘Flying Sikh’, and the star of the Bollywood smash hit movie ‘Run Milkha Run’, met Scotland’s First Minister today at the Royal Aberdeen course.
Milkha Singh is the father to European Tour professional golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and with the now 84-year winning a gold medal at the 1954 Commonwealth Games along with four Asian Games gold medals but then going agonizingly close to an Olympic gold medal in 1960 in Rome.
Stuart Adams (www.golftourimages.com) snapped the legendary India sportsman with Alex Salmon at the end of Jeev Milkha Singh’s opening round of a one under par 70 and in an event Singh captured two years ago at Castle Stuart.
And while Jeev’s father has long been renowned and endeared in his homeland he more recently has attracted wider affection with the release of the Bollywood blockbuster movie about his life titled – “Run Milkha Run”.
In fact, the much-acclaimed and at many times very emotional movie, was released a year ago on Sunday and has since become Bollywood’s six all-time box office hit and already amassing $17m after being produced on a budget of $5m.
And with the Commonwealth Games to be staged shortly in Glasgow it was a timely encounter for Milkha Singh and the Scotland First Minister.
