After His Accenture Acclaim Aussie Jason Day Returns To His Day Job.

A week after his much-acclaimed WGC – Accenture Match-Play success and Australia’s Jason Day returns to his day job for Thursday’s commencing WGC – Cadillac Championship here at Doral.

Day had overcome the swash-buckling recovery efforts of Frenchman Victor Dubuisson to capture only his second PGA Tour title, and also his second individual in as many months after securing individual leading honours in the 2013 Handa World Cup of Golf in Melbourne.

The current World No. 4 elected to sit out last week’s Honda Classic and instead spent the time with his young family soaking-up the significance of his victory at Dove Mountain, Arizona.

“I have never been so focused as I was in Arizona,” he said.

“I just put so much hard work into the Mach-Play that when I arrived there I couldn’t see how anyone could beat me.   I was just so confident with the preparation.”

And while Day focuses on becoming only the second player behind Tiger Woods to win both the WGC – Accenture Match-Play Championship and WGC – Cadillac Championship in the same season (Woods achieved this for the only occasion in 2003), Day is looking to become a second straight Australian-born Master champion.

Day was joint runner-up with Scott to South African Charl Schwartzel in the 2011 Masters while last year he shared the final round lead with four holes to play following birdies at 13 and 14 before leading on his with a third straight birdie at 15.  However bogeys at 16 and 17 saw Day having to settle for a share of third place.

“My goal is to become Number One in the world and win the Masters,” Day said bluntly.

And if successful in winning at Augusta National it will not be the first green coloured jacket in his wardrobe

He won a first green jacket in capturing the 2006 NEC Master of the Amateurs and a victory that prompted Day to turn professional.
And as Day prepared for this week’s event he was asked a few other questions that www.golfbytourmiss.com now brings to you.
*  On Tiger Woods likelihood of recovering from back spasms to play?
“Tiger is no longer 20 years old but I think he is going to play this week.”
*  On Victor Dubuisson’s new nick-name?
“I heard his name means  ‘Bush’ in French.  He is amazing as his first shot he hit from the bush I thought he was lucky to get it back in the play and what a fantastic shot.   But after his second shot I just said to my self  ‘Woh!’    I was just glad to get it done and win.  But Victor is a great player and he is playing great golf and he’s only at 23 years old.”
*  On Rory McIlroy letting slip victory in the Honda Classic?
“I had been watching the Honda Classic and Rory really played great golf during the first three days.  He is playing superb golf.”
