The son and former wife of the late, great Seve Ballesertos have been invited to take part in next year’s 25th anniversary Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
Javier Ballesteros will contest the Wednesday Pro-Am that will include former champions Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, who have been asked to return to the Emirates Golf Club for the $2.5 million tournament from January 30th to February 2nd, 2014.
Seve Balleseteros won the event in 1982 and his 23-year old son will represent his father.
Javier is still an amateur but had missed the cut in his debut on the second-tier European Challenge Tour in Madrid in April.
His mother, Carmen will accompany her son to the Emirate state.
Current World No. 1 one Woods and the presently No. 6 ranked McIlroy have already confirmed their involvement in next year’s Desert Classic.
“I appreciate the support I have received from the people in Dubai and I always enjoy playing in their tournament,” said Woods who won the event in 2006 and 2008.
“I look forward to getting out there and being part of the 25th anniversary celebrations.”
McIlroy was 19 when he clinched his first European Tour victory at the Desert Classic in 2009.
