Sergio Garcia Apologises & Shakes Hands With Tiger Woods

Sergio Garcia has shaken hands and apologised to Tiger Woods today (Mon) at Merion following his controversial remarks at last month’s European Tour Players Award dinner.

Garcia extended his right hand to Woods on the practice range for this week’s 113th US Open Championship and the first time the duelling duo will play the same tournament since the unsavoury incidents during the third round of the Players Championship.

Woods warmly responded and with the duo agreeing to meet later tonight where it is hoped their differences can be finally sorted out for the future good of the game.

The two had been waging a ‘war of words’ since the Players Championship before the matter took an unexpected twist early during the week of the European Tour’s BMW PGA Championship.

A press conference was hurried arrange the next day and with Garcia issuing an unreserved apology to Woods over his racially insensitve comment.

However with fears the Spaniard could be facing a verbal backlash at the hands of fieceĀ  ‘Penn State’ fans this week the local police were taking no chances and with an officer assigned to accompany Garcia to the range and about the course.

Both players are due to give press conferences on Tuesday, when it is expected they will take the opportunity to finally draw a line under their long-running feud.
