Rummy & Ronnie Rocking In Doha With A 67 Starting Score

The Rummy & Ronnie Show breezed their way to a five under par 67 start in superb conditions on the first day of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha.

‘Rummy’ – Australia’s Brett Rumford and ‘Ronnie’ – supercaddy John Roberts took full advantage of the benign morning weather for  Rumford to match his second best score in nine appearances in the Qatar event.

Rumford didn’t drop a shot with his five under par tally equallying a 67 he shot on the first day of the event in 2009 while the Perth-born player had also recorded a five under par tally on the final day of the 2004 tournament.

His best score on the Peter Harradine designed Doha Golf Club course remains a 66 he signed on day two in 2010 when he recorded his best ever finish of third behind Sweden’s Robert Karlsson.

Ronnie is this week staying with Doha’s finest couple, Dave and June Murphy and had eagerly left the residence at 4am ahead of teeing off in the third group of the morning at 6.55am.

It might now be a good night for June and Dave to pop over to the nearby Doha Rugby Club as Ronnie’s sure to give a blow-by-blow account of a super round of golf.
