McIlroy Kick Starts Six Bags Foundation Initiative Bringing Smile To Seven Year Old.

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy got his ‘Rory McIlroy Foundation’ and his ‘Six Bag’  initiative off to a superb start when he met seven year old, James Banmatyne.

In a superb initiative McIlroy is carrying the logo of six charities on his Nike golf bag into six events this year up and including the  Masters.

McIlroy’s golf bag will then be auctioned and the funds raised going to help each charity.

This week McIlroy is supporting the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for children.

Running the Foundation will be Rory’s father, Gerry,

“It’s great to have dad on board and the Six Bags project as it’s a great initiative to start off the Foundation,”  he said.

“So I just thougth while we are talking about my new deal (with Nike) and everything, I just thought it was a good time to show that I am also giving back, too, and it’s just not all about money, you know.

“So it’s great to set up the Rory McIlroy Foundation and hopefully we can do some great things in the future beyond the six bags project we’ve started up.”

And McIlroy revealed he will be returning to hurrican torn Haiti before this year’s Masters again in his role as a UNICEF Ambassador.  McIlroy first went to the Caribbean island in 2011 and just prior to capturing his first Major – the US Open.
