Last Minute Christmas Gift – The Police Car That Got Rory McIlroy To Medinah On Time.

Here is a last minute Christmas gift idea – the unmarked Lombard City police car used to rush European golfer Rory McIlroy to his game-changing performance on the final day of the Ryder Cup in Medinah is heading to the auction block.

The local city council has now given approval for the car to be sold early next year on eBay.com.

Rather than let the Ford Crown Victoria with over 80,000 on the clock go to auction Deputy Pat Rollins car is now set to beome a collector’s item after ‘Snory Rory’ was rushed from his hotel to only just make his tee time by minutes ahead of Europe storming back from 10-6 down to win 141/2 to 131/2, and will now go down in golfing history as the Miracle at Medinah.

“Since it’s drawing so much attention we figure we have nothing to lose by putting it out there for any European or anyone who would like to buy the car and do whatever they would like with it,” said Village Manager David Hulseberg as reported in the local newspaper The Daily Herald.

Rollins will get a new Ford Fusion mid next month allowing his old squad car to go to eBay.com

According to the newspaper local officials have “no idea” how much the car will sell for.

“Anything above and beyond what we normally receive for a police vehicle of its kind would be a bonus to the village and the taxpayers,” added Hulseberg.

McIlroy had been texting his girlfriend competing in Korea when he realised he had not set his wristwatch on local Chicago and then came rushing out of the Westin Hotel where Rollins used his police car to rush McIlroy to Medinah Country Club in about 20 minutes.

www.golfbytourmiss.com approached McIlroy during the recent BMW Masters and with the current World No. 1 delighted to learn the car will help to raise funds for the local Lombard community.
