2013 European Tour International Schedule Released.

The 2013 European Tour will feature 45 tournaments and with hardly any surprises.

Next year’s Race to Dubai will actually commence next month with the December 6th starting Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa and will end on November 17th with the fifth staging of the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.

In between there is three other new events – the February 28th commencing Tshwane Open in South Africa, the July 25th starting Russian Masters at a venue to be confirmed and the already announced November 7th to 10th first-ever Turkish Open being staged on the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course at Antalya.

In a first, there will be six events in South Africa compared to just one in England.

However there is also just one event in Spain in 2013 – the April 18th starting Reale Seguros Open de Espana at a venue als0 to be confirmed.  This is after Spain hosted seven tournaments in 2011 but also had four cancelled this year.

Returning to the schedule and now counting as a Tour membership qualifying event is the October 3rd starting Vivendi Seve Trophy and also at a venue to be confirmed.

In fact, there is three weeks with TBA alongside the date and with Tour confident of adding the Maderia Islands Open and the Sicilian Open to the schedule.

As well, the Singapore Open and the Hong Kong Open don’t appear in the 2013 Race to Dubai.  The Tour released a statement last week in Hong Kong saying the Hong Kong Open will go ahead in 2013 but will be a tournament counting on the 2014 Race to Dubai.

However there should be concern for the Singapore Open with rumours ripe it could be joining the PGA Tour and if that happens it would be a disappointing first for the European Tour in losing an event to the PGA Tour.
