Peter Hanson Looking To Bridge Race To Dubai Gap By Contesting Barclays Singapore Open.

Sweden’s Peter Hanson will consider adding next week’s Barclays Singapore Open in order to put further Race to Dubai pressure on World No. 1 Rory McIlroy.

Hanson moved from seventh to second on the Race to Dubai money list in keeping McIlroy at arm’s reach to capture last week’s BMW Masters in Shanghai.

The 35-year old Orlando-based Hanson is now Euro 812,573 behind McIlroy with two confirmed events remaining – this week’s $7m WGC – HSBC Champions in Shenshan and the season-ending Dubai World Championship commencing in Dubai on November 22nd.

A second straight victory this week in China would put Hanson ahead of McIlroy.

However Hanson is considering giving himself every opportunity to deny McIlroy the European No. 1 title with thoughts now of joining him in Singapore.

“Now that I am that much closer to Rory I have to give myself every chance of winning the Race to Dubai,” said Hanson.

“I wasn’t going to play the Singapore Open as I was going to have that week off.

“But I will now sit down with my management team this week and consider whether I should now play in Singapore.

“The thing is that playing in Singapore could make the difference finishing my season first on the Race to Dubai.”

And while Hanson considers entering the Singapore Open he will sit out the following week’s $2m UBS Hong Kong Open and an event McIlroy will be defending.
