I Will Never Forget A Kiss From Cindy Crawford Says Lawrie.

Paul Lawrie’s abiding memory of his best-ever finish in the Omega European Masters was being on the receiving end of a kiss from Super Model, Cindy Crawford.

That was 10 years ago after Lawrie had finished joint runner-up to Sweden’s Robert Karlsson and with Crawford on hand at the prize-giving ceremony in her role as an ambassador for the Swiss watch making giant.

Paul Lawrie's lingering memory of his best ever Swiss finish - A kiss from Cindy Crawford.

This year is Lawrie’s 13th visit to the alpine course and while he had a little trouble remembering the year he finished second, the Scot was in no doubt about ‘that’ kiss.

“I would have said I was second here about five or six years at the maximum so I can’t believe it’s 10 years, so I must be getting old,” he said.

“Probably my abiding memory of finishing second was of Cindy Crawford giving me a kiss on the cheek, which was very nice of her.

“However after last week I am feeling a little tired as winning does take a lot out of you, because there is a lot of stuff which goes on around winning a tournament.

“Hopefully, after a decent night’s sleep I’ll feel fresh and ready to go tomorrow morning.”

Lawrie will play the opening two rounds of this week’s Omega European Masters in the company of Thomas Bjorn and is looking to emulate the 2011 efforts of the Dane who struck a triple blow for the over-40 brigade with victory in the Qatar Master and then the back-to-back wins in the Gleneagles and Swiss events.

“Thomas managed to win three times last year, so there’s no reason why I can’t do the same,” said Lawrie.

“I playing alongside Thomas for the first two rounds so that could be a nice omen for me this week.”

Lawrie is among 10 Scots in this week’s Swiss field including former champion, Colin Montgomerie and the Dubai-based Ross Bain.

Bain is part of the Asian Tour contingent given the event is again co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour.
