GB & I Hit Front For First Time In Curtis Cup … 16-Year Winless Drought Near End.

GB & I have hit the front for the first time in the 2012 Curtis Cup winning the opening three Singles matches today.

The host team went into the last day trailing 5 1/2 points to 6 1/2 points but drew level when Kelly Tidy defeated Austin Ernst in the first match of the day.

GB & I then took the lead for a first-ever occasion this week when Amy Boulden defeated Emily Turbet 3 and 1.

And the wave of momentum continued in GB & I’s favour in the third match when Holly Clyburn accounted for American Erica Popson 3 and 2.

The three wins put GB & I two points ahead at 8 1/2 to 6 1/2.

However the Americans countered with Lisa McCloskey stopping the tide with a comprehensive 4 & 3 defeat over Scotland’s Pamela Pretswell to draw within a point of GB & I.
